Friday night mishaps and crying during The O.C.

So last night started off lively-like with a roommates' trip (well...3 of us) to the Corban College & Graduate School male basketball game. It seems that the team has problems with finishing a game; tonight little Sis hit it big time and pulled out a game winner. I am so proud of him, as proud as the former roommate of his sister can be - I'm removed but still entitled to my feelings. As the merging of the non-social families was going down, well maybe ... the three of us and a guest headed back to the other's house to pick up some long awaited c-e-v-i-c-h-e, chili cheese dip, and chips all the while getting a walking tour of the house. I did note that our tour guide's room was the most clean out of everyone's, kudos for that. To my dismay I feel it is citizen's duty to report the excruciatingly painful conditions endured during the introductions of one family to another. I mean, all that was expected (if I may be so candid) was a little warmth... but we got that neither from most (not all) of the family NOR the household, as the heating system is literally not used there. Perhaps we were scary, or overbearing, or haggish...I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, I mean I'm pretty intimidating...either way we ended up with awkward salutations and left with all the food under our arm and a cheery member of that household kindly driving us back to our apartment. Now the plan was to watch a movie, but since indecisiveness seems to plague most of us, we settled on the last 4 minutes of the Blazers game, watching them upset the NY Knicks in overtime. After that our guest and his cohort discreetly left the living room area (what?) and so Sporty and I flipped through the channels only to excitedly see that PREDATOR RAW: THE UNSEEN FOOTAGE was airing...maybe it was the second time I saw it that day, but I sacrificed for the cause and didn't mind anyway. After feeling sick to our stomachs but full with justice we moved on to My Big Redneck Wedding, highly recommended by Sporty. To interject I did want to mention that Jif decided to cuddle up next to Sporty during the tv viewing, which started in a bit of awkwardness and detachment (from my POV) but as always...ended with a warm seat. Back to the rednecks getting hitched, I was pleased to see that the couple from Florida were dressing their bridesmaids in jean skirts and spaghetti strap shirts (camoflauge by design), and "mattress-surfing" at the reception. It all culminated as the bride stood in a great big blow-up kiddie pool filled with mud and proceeded to ruin her wedding dress. She loved it. Unfortunately - or fortunately, which one is it? - this is where I fell asleep on the chair, and woke up past midnight to creep into my comforters. What a day. Just thought it might be worth noting that after I woke up at 8 am this morning and finishing off my carrot cake rice cream and ceviche (almost), Sporty and I proceeded to finish up the 3rd season of the OC. I know, I know, I have hated that show for so long...and yet...as Marissa drifted off to the afterlife in Ryan's arms, I couldn't stifle the tears that streamed steadily down my cheeks and onto my fuzzy green blanket, staining my cheeks as Marissa stained the heart of the one who held her dying body...and the one who caused her death.

this is a lively post and i give it 4 stars and a hoorah for ceviche, a tear for marissa and broken dreams of one last "hoorah" for her and ryan (if you know what i mean), and an awkward wave for the awkwardness that ensued last night during introductions.

a productive 24 hours indeed.

Apologies that the movie night didn't work out as expected. But the winners ended up with the food. Too bad the ceviche didn't last long. And I noticed that my second dish of it didn't last too long either. Interesting. Maybe I need to find a different fridge to keep it in. Sounds like the night ended up with some good laughs and a few tears the next morning. Look forward to the next update.
